Green Mountain Youth Symphony

The Green Mountain Youth Symphony provides high-quality orchestral training and performance opportunities to young musicians across central Vermont.
Our mission is to foster musical excellence, personal growth, and community engagement through inclusive, ensemble-based music education. We are committed to making music accessible to students of all backgrounds and to enriching our rural communities through collaboration, creativity, and the shared joy of music-making.
Who we are
25 years of musical education in central Vermont
-
GMYS was established in 2001, providing young musicians with a place to collaborate and make music together. The pandemic slowed operations, but we are back on track for another incredible season.
All skill levels welcome
-
Our Repertory orchestra hosts students with as little as 6-12 months of musical experience; our Concert and Senior orchestras give intermediate and advanced students a chance to push their musicality to new heights.
Classical, show-tunes, movie music - we love it all!
-
We perform pieces from a wide range of composers including Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, Saint-Georges, and many more. We also love to include movie music, show tunes, and even composers from our own orchestras. We've even been known to play a mean Bruno Mars medley...
We meet Saturdays in the Fall and Spring Semesters at the Capitol City Grange
