GMYS presents the Fall Concert!

The GMYS Fall Concert on Sunday, December 10, 2017, 2:00pm at the Barre Opera House will showcase all three orchestras.

The Repertory, Concert, and Senior Orchestras will each perform their own musical offerings. The Repertory Orchestra is under the baton of Paul Perley. The Concert and Senior Orchestras are led by GMYS Artistic Director, Bob Blais.

The Repertory Orchestra will be joined by a special guest, poet Tamra Higgins, who wrote “Your Daily Breath” specifically to fit with one of the musical offerings the students have prepared. Ms. Higgins will join the orchestra to read her poem during their performance.

The Concert Orchestra will play several pieces in different styles, including La Bamba and Johann Strauss’ Radetzky March.
Mr. Blais and the Senior Orchestra will present Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World,” Gershwin’s American in Paris, and the Glazunov Saxophone Concerto featuring Senior Soloist is Matt Koucky of Montpelier.

Tickets are available by donation at the door. Adults $15, Seniors $12, Students (K-12) $5, Children under 5 are free.

GMYS is proud to present this concert as part of Vermont Arts 2017, a project of the Vermont Arts Council.

Monteplier, Vermont October 8, 2016

GMYS musicians played from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church on State Street in Montpelier to the delight of downtown crowds. This was the third year GMYS has put on a playathon. Delicious baked goods provided by friends and families of GMYS were sold, and increased to the success of this tradition. A big thanks to our musicians who solicited pledges to support our programming.
